Not for the first time, a reproduction of a work by Charles White appeared not only within, but also on the cover of, a calendar dedicated to the work of African American artists. This 2019 calendar, published by Pomegranate, in collaboration with the Smithsonian American Art Museum, featured on its cover Charles White's Love Letter, 1971. The work also appeared inside the calendar, for the month of October.
The short paragraph of text appearing on the back of the calendar included the following reference to the work by White: After political activist Angela Davis was arrested in 1970, Charles White's Love Letter, featured on the cover of this calendar, was used in a letter-writing campaign by her supporters."
