The 1970s were, like the preceding decades, a busy one for Charles White. This folded card was an invitation to the preview of an exhibition by White of his 'Drawings, Etchings, Ceramic Sculptures'. It was held at White's longtime Los Angeles gallery, Heritage Gallery. The card was unusual, in that a rectangle was cut out of the front of the card, to align with the name of Charles White on the inside of the card. A translucent folded page, with details of the preview, was folded over the inside of the card, adding another layer as it were, to the rendering of Charles White's name.
Elsewhere on the card, the following information appeared:
"To celebrate a decade of CHARLES WHITE exhibits at the HERITAGE GALLERY an edition of signed and numbered sterling silver eight inch plates limited by private subscription to one hundred plus ten artist proofs will be available at the exhibit. These solid silver plates have been issued by America's oldest silver company - Gorham.
The preview card came in a Heritage Gallery envelope, the one in the collection of Eddie Chambers being unused.
