What turned out to be one of the last major museum exhibitions of Charles White's work was The Work of Charles White: An American Experience, held at the High Museum, Atlanta, Georgia, September 4 - October 3, 1976, before touring on to Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, Alabama, October 23 - December 5, 1976, Hunter Museum of Art, Chattanooga, Tennessee, February 17 - March 31, 1977, Art Museum of the Palm Beaches, Inc. West Palm Beach, Florida, April 22 - May 29, 1997, ending its Southern states its tour at Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, Arkansas.
This card, 7" x 6", was an invitation to the opening of the High Museum exhibition "Museum Members Preview" [Friday, September 3, 1976, 7 - 9 p.m., The Hight Museum of Art Peachtree at 15th] and, two days later, "An Afternoon with Charles White [Sunday, September 5, 1976 3 p.m. Hill Auditorium] ..
This double invitation card stated that the 'Afternoon with Charles White' event was "free and open to the public. Seating may be limited." The Museum Members Preview side of the invitation stated "Refreshments. This card admits two."
Like the accompanying catalogue itself, the card was illustrated with White's "Vision", oil drawing, 1968, 20" round. Lent by the Heritage Gallery, Los Angeles, California.
